Earlier this year, we released the 5th Edition of The Connection, Bolder Advocacy’s guide to creating and operating 501(c)(3)s, 501(c)(4)s, and Political Organizations. Since that time, exciting developments have emerged, impacting the work of some organizations engaging in field canvassing activities before this important election. In response, The Connection now includes information about a recent FEC advisory opinion pertaining to the treatment of certain door-to-door canvassing activities carried out in coordination with federal candidates and political parties.
To find out more, download your free copy of The Connection on the Alliance for Justice website. And, for an even more detailed analysis of this crucial development, which enables 501(c)(4) organizations and political committees to build political power via coordinated canvassing activities without categorizing them as in-kind contributions, see this client memo distributed by the law firm of Trister, Ross, Schadler & Gold, PLLC.
