John,
Justice Democrats incumbent Rep. Cori Bush faces a serious threat in her re-election campaign for Missouri’s 1st congressional district this year.
Her primary challenger is “raising money hand over fist,” but there’s one problem — this so-called Democrat is raising big bucks… from Republicans.
We already knew Cori’s opponent, St. Louis prosecutor Wesley Bell, is endorsed by the anti-Palestinian lobby group AIPAC, which is largely funded by GOP millionaires and billionaires.
But HuffPost reports that Bell has accepted “more than $65,000 from donors who also gave to one of Missouri’s two Republican senators… or Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, the leading Republican candidate for governor.”
Two of those Republican megadonors are former Missouri House speaker turned lobbyist Steven Tilley and billionaire hedge fund founder Daniel Loeb. If Cori’s opponent is being fueled by wealthy, anti-abortion conservatives who’ve poured millions into Republicans’ campaigns, why should the people of St. Louis believe he’ll fight for them as a true Democratic representative in Congress?
We can’t let a progressive champion and Squad member be replaced by someone taking contributions from the same people trying to rip away our rights and prioritize corporations over working families.
Cori is a tireless advocate for the people of St. Louis and regular, everyday people across our country and world — and she doesn’t accept ANY corporate PAC money. That’s why your grassroots donation, no matter how big or small, will truly help us defend her seat.
Thanks for anything you can give to power our work to re-elect Cori this summer!
