Since opening our doors in 1981, People For the American Way has
flourished, inspired by our founder Norman Lear’s tireless fight for the
progressive values he believed defined the American Way. His deep love for
this country and accomplishments in transforming the nation are many and
inspire us to continue championing the values we want America to reflect.

Throughout his life Norman never stopped working to build a better future,
and neither should we. As we continue to navigate the challenges facing
our democracy, we are reminded of the importance of each voice in shaping
the America we believe in.
