Health Care: New Regulation Expands Care for 100,000 People with DACA
The Biden Administration finalized a regulation Monday that makes an estimated 100,000 people with DACA eligible for health coverage through the Affordable Care Act marketplace network. This long-overdue reform was a PIF priority, with more than 400 member organizations signing onto a letter last year, urging prompt action to finalize the proposal. Please help us spread the word, by retweeting our Twitter post [[link removed]] . We offer our thanks to members who worked toward this important victory.

Thursday: Webinar on “1557” Health Equity Regulation
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services also finalized long-awaited health equity regulations [[link removed]] a couple of weeks ago. The “1557 regulation” includes language access provisions and protections against discrimination based on national origin that are relevant to the work of PIF members. We are grateful to partner NHeLP for hosting this webinar, offering an overview of what's in the final regulation as well as what advocates and health care providers need to know to prevent discrimination. If you can, use the link below to register and join the webinar Thursday at 3:30pm EDT / 12:30pm PDT.

Transition News: Gratitude and Well Wishes for PIF Deputy Director Cheasty Anderson
Our colleague, Cheasty Anderson, has transitioned out of PIF to join the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network as their Managing Director for the Southern Gulf Region where she will continue to advance health access and equity by leading fights for Medicaid expansion, cancer prevention, and patient advocacy legislation.
Cheasty served on PIF’s Steering Committee for four years before becoming our first full-time Deputy Director. In her time at PIF, Cheasty played a critical role in generating programmatic strategies and building key partnerships. We will miss Cheasty’s energy and passion for PIF’s work, but we are excited for her and look forward to working with her in her new role.
