Bonegilla Migrant Experience invites you to enjoy a day immersed in post-war migrant history.

Experience the ways in which migrants shaped modern Australia on this exclusive bus tour of significant sites across Albury Wodonga.

The tour includes bus transport between sites. You can begin from the following pick up locations.

Wodonga Senior Citizens Centre car park, 15 Havelock Street, Wodonga

Albury Train Station, Smollet Street, Albury

Optional drop off at both locations between 4pm and 4.30pm.

Witness the size and scale of the original migrant camp at Bonegilla when it opened in 1947.

You’ll have the opportunity to spend time at Latchford Barracks to view the last remaining building and footings on site as well as past block locations that aren’t accessible to the general public.

During a special guided tour at Bonegilla Migrant Experience, you’ll get to truly walk in the shoes of the 320,000 migrants who made this their first Australian home.

Learn about the fascinating history of the Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre, explore original camp buildings and hear shared stories of migrants. 

Wander through Albury LibraryMuseum’s Bonegilla Collection to get a deeper understanding of Bonegilla’s past.

The collection includes objects owned by former residents of the Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre; things that people brought from their homeland that gave them comfort. 

There are currently over 1,200 museum objects and photographs in the Bonegilla Collection.

The Post-war Migration Tour forms part of the National Trust’s 2024 Australian Heritage Festival.
