We did it, friend:
Thanks to the strong support of our members, we helped push the California Fish and Game Commission to designate the Southern California steelhead trout as an endangered species, saving them from extinction!

Of course this is just the first step towards full protection for these iconic fish that live in the waters of the San Gabriel Mountains, which will include more hard work by our friends at CalTrout as well as the incredible benefits that will come from the public lands protections of their habitats.
This just goes to show that when the environmental community comes together, when we all work together, we achieve big things.
EnviroVoters worked with CalTrout and other organizations to show the immense public support for protecting the Steelhead and expanding the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument — in fact, we collected more than 4,700 signatures on a letter to the Commission.
Steelhead trout are dwindling in numbers, due to habitat loss, fragmentation, and the encroachment of urbanization. Getting listed as endangered under California’s Endangered Species Act will help them avoid extinction, which would have had ripple effects across the entire ecosystem, impacting plants, animals, and humans.
Friend, as a small nonprofit, we rely on the grassroots support of Environmental Voters like you to work on important advocacy campaigns like this. Will you help us celebrate this big win and continue to pursue more efforts to protect the environment and advance climate justice by making a contribution today?
