This is an exact quote from Ryan Walters talking about his plans as Superintendent of Oklahoma schools - “I’m going to get to the biggest assault that you see."
This is the man who is in charge of our state’s education system – and who is supposed to be responsible for fighting teachers and students.
Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day and here are just a few of the ways that Ryan Walters is “showing” his appreciation for our educators:
❌ Described teacher unions as Marxist terrorist organizations.
❌ Appointed Chaya Raichik, who runs the ultra right-wing and viral Twitter account called ‘Libs of Tick Tok’ who is responsible for bomb threats directed toward her targets, online harassment of teachers, and dismissal of educators including an Oklahoma librarian to a state library council.
❌ Diverting public school funds that help pay teachers’ salaries and improve our schools to private religious schools through voucher systems!
NONE of this sounds like appreciation to us. In fact, it sounds like Ryan Walters is leading a targeted assault on our educators and our students. It’s harmful, bigoted, and ultimately, about putting extreme politics and getting national headlines over actually helping teachers.
Well, Oklahoma Democrats aren’t going to stand for it. We’re asking you to help us show our educators appreciation by electing state leaders who will actually fight FOR them, not against them.
