Dear Friend,
As the novel coronavirus—which originated in a meat market—continues to spread, PETA Asia's latest investigation reveals that filthy live-animal markets are still operating in Indonesia and Thailand, among other places.
The footage shows that blood and rotting flesh are everywhere, and gloveless workers and customers handle the body parts of animals killed on site. Chickens with open wounds are bound to other birds awaiting slaughter. Terrified cats await slaughter in a dirty cage without food or water. Dogs, pigs, and a snake lie dead while flies buzz around them.
All live-animal markets are breeding grounds for zoonotic diseases, such as COVID-19, SARS, and MERS. Please view this footage, pass it on, and join PETA in calling on the World Health Organization to help shut down these cruel and dangerous markets, whether they're killing chickens in New York or cats in Indonesia.
