John – the push to ban books from libraries has rapidly spread across the country.
Far-right extremists are pushing their hateful agenda, limiting young people’s access to knowledge, understanding, and representation through reading.
They claim they are protecting our children. However, when the books we all read in school growing up like To Kill a Mockingbird or Catcher in the Rye are banned, their true motivations are revealed to be much more sinister.
Rather than trusting teachers and librarians to discern what is appropriate to read, they want to ensure that we are only granted access to books that support and validate their extreme and hateful agenda.
They are stifling our curiosity and access to information. They want to censor anyone who threatens their power. All while claiming to be proponents of small government.
As the daughter of a librarian, I was an avid reader from the time I could hold a book. The fight to protect access to knowledge and perspectives is a fight that matters to us all. Will you sign now to support libraries in the face of archaic book bans? ([link removed])
