John, last week wasn’t the first time Arizona’s state legislature considered repealing the Civil War-era abortion ban.
In the past, Democrats have introduced bills to strike down the 1864 abortion ban — and extreme Republicans blocked them from moving forward.
The bipartisan repeal vote came after thousands of Arizonans, including Katie, urged them to act. Extreme Republicans saw how politically inconvenient supporting the barbaric ban is, and that’s why a handful of them changed their position.
But as Republicans try to move past this so-called “fluke” on their end, this is the truth:
