Yesterday the Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly resigned — but his decision to fire Captain Brett Crozier for protecting his ship from COVID-19 has not been reversed.
To recap, Modly went off on a long rant where he insulted Chinese people, dipped into presidential politics by going after Joe Biden, and whined at some length about his own situation. He insulted and degraded a hero, Captain Brett Crozier, for protecting his own against COVID-19.
VoteVets has led the charge to pressure Thomas Modly to resign, and he has offered his letter of resignation. This is far from over though. We need the Navy to reinstate the hero of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, Captain Brett Crozier.
This is about justice for Captain Crozier and his crew members of the Roosevelt. The former Secretary – and the White House that is pushing him – continue to place their own image over the well-being of the crew, the integrity of our non-political chain of command, and the devotion to their duty that our active duty commanding officers deliver every day.
Every American needs to be confident that our civilian leaders are bringing as much professionalism to their high appointments as every American military man and woman brings to their duty every day.
VoteVets is not done fighting for what’s right.
