TAKE ACTION: Protect Children from Lead Paint
Did you know that New York State leads the nation in cases of children with elevated blood levels? In fact, 12 percent of the children born in New York in 2019 – 28,820 children – have been diagnosed with elevated blood lead levels. And studies show that Black children living below the poverty line are twice as likely to suffer from lead poisoning as poor white children.
Fortunately, we have a solution, but the clock is ticking. We have until June 6 to convince Albany to pass the New York State Lead Paint Right to Know Act, which will require disclosure of lead-paint test reports in all real estate transactions: buying, selling, or renting. Families should know if a home contains lead before they move in – not after their child suffers from irreparable harm.
You can help by letting Speaker of the New York State Assembly Carl Heastie and Senate President Pro Tempore Andrea Stewart-Cousins know how important it is that the Lead Paint Right to Know Act ([link removed]) (S.2353 ([link removed]) /A.4820 ([link removed]) ) is brought to the floor for a vote in 2024. The 2024 legislative session ends on June 6.
Not sure what to say? We’ve got you covered! Use this form ([link removed]) to automatically send a pre-drafted letter (or customize it, if you prefer) urging them to bring the Lead Paint Right to Know Act to a vote! ACT TODAY ([link removed]) !

TAKE ACTION: Clean Up Our Cosmetics
Many cosmetics and other personal care products contain toxic ingredients that have been linked to cancer, infertility, miscarriage, poor infant and maternal health outcomes, obesity, asthma, and other health concerns. And people of color to higher rates of use for these harmful products.
Once again, we have a solution, the New York State Beauty Justice Bill (S.4265 ([link removed]) /A.6969 ([link removed]) ), but we need your help to convince Albany to pass it by June 6. This bill will ban the most dangerous toxic chemicals from the majority of personal care products sold in New York State, significantly reducing your exposure to these harmful chemicals.
You can help by asking your New York State legislators to support the Beauty Justice Bill ([link removed]) and make sure it is brought to a vote before the 2024 legislative session ends on June 6.
Not sure what to say, or even who your state legislators are? We’ve got you covered! Use this form ([link removed]) to automatically send a pre-drafted letter (or customize it, if you prefer) urging them to bring the Beauty Justice Bill to a vote! ACT TODAY ([link removed]) !
