HFA Honors Mothers

Last month we launched a giving campaign in honor of Mother's Day. As May 12th approaches, we're reminded of the invaluable role mothers play in our lives and communities. At Hunger Free America, we believe in honoring mothers not just with words, but with meaningful action.

That’s why we’ve launched our Honoring Mothers Giving Campaign and we invite you to join us in celebrating and supporting mothers in need.

At Hunger Free America, we won’t stop fighting until every child in this country has enough to eat.

Thanking Our Volunteers

During National Volunteer week, April 21-27, we hosted a virtual Volunteer Appreciation event for our AmeriCorps Senior volunteers, to thank them their service.  They have collectively contributed over 5,000 hours of volunteering since 2023 with our non-profit partners.  Join our amazing team of volunteers fighting hunger:

Use SNAP at Farmers Markets

As the weather warms up across the country, farmers markets are opening and many of them accept SNAP benefits.

Summer EBT is Here to Stay!

Beginning in Summer 2024, families will receive $40 per month per eligible child – a total of $120 for the summer – on an EBT food benefit card. These benefits, combined with other federal nutrition programs including SNAP, WIC, and summer meal sites, help ensure children’s access to healthy food while school is out.

Currently, 35 states have applied, and been approved, for the 2024 Summer EBT program

If your state is not on
the list, contact your governor and demand that your state state opt into Summer EBT in 2025!

Advocate for SNAP in the Farm Bill

The Farm Bill is a powerful tool in the fight against hunger. It includes the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), previously known as the Food Stamp program, with a budget of $147 billion this year. This amount is much larger than what charities contribute to addressing hunger. The bill authorizes major hunger-fighting programs, excluding school meals and WIC for pregnant people and young children. It also supports programs helping low-income individuals get more fresh produce at farmers markets. The Farm Bill is crucial in ending hunger in the U.S. and making sure everyone can access healthy foods like fruits and vegetables.
