May is Anti-Chevron Month!
Since 2014, each year on the eve of Chevron’s annual shareholders meeting communities affected by Chevron’s human rights and environmental abuses stand in solidarity to condemn the gross polluter on Anti-Chevron Day. Chevron has created more greenhouse gas emissions than any other investor-owned oil company in history. Chevron is a notorious corporate bully with a history of viciously attacking its critics and affected communities.
This year, the entire month of May has been dubbed Anti-Chevron Month and there’s a lot going on. On May 5, the Rich City Rays held a kayak action that blocked an oil tanker in the S.F. Bay. This nonviolent direct action called for justice for communities from Richmond to Ecuador to Palestine and an end to Chevron’s environmental racism.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Tomorrow – Wednesday, May 8 – voices from the front lines will hold an educational webinar called "Chevron's Global Crimes Against Humanity" which will feature speakers from multiple communities and struggles. Attendees will also learn how to get involved with the #AntiChevron activities and how to organize an action in their own community.
On Sunday, May 19 from noon to 4 pm in Richmond, CA, join us for a teach-in: "Anti-Chevron Day: From Richmond to Palestine – a Community Gathering for Global Solidarity." This community education and engagement event will uplift struggles against Chevron from around the world.
Chevron has deliberately polluted the Amazon, been found criminally liable for harming communities of color in Richmond, and owes over $50 billion to communities and countries around the world for its human rights and environmental violations. It’s time to make sure Chevron’s leadership understands that we will continue to challenge it and stand in solidarity until justice is achieved for those affected by Chevron.
Join us and take action to hold Chevron accountable and declare yourself #AntiChevron!
