Last week, Florida’s extreme 6-week abortion ban signed into law by Republican Governor Ron Desantis finally took effect:

With this near-total abortion ban now in place, millions of women not just in Florida, but in the entire Southeast region of the United States have been deprived of access to abortion care. Now, the closest places for women in Florida to obtain abortions after six weeks will be at least a day's travel by car.

Friend, we warned that the far-right would not stop at overturning Roe. Since the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson, extreme anti-choice politicians have passed near-total abortion bans all across the country, further eroding women’s reproductive rights.

We need federal legislation to ensure women are able to make decisions about their own bodies in every state, not just blue ones. That’s why Lori and House Democrats are fighting to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), which would do just that.
