Help us support remarkable moms today and every day   Friends, I love when a spark flickers in my daughter’s eyes – that moment something new makes sense for the first time. But I’ve also seen her frustration when the world around her is changing and not going the way she planned. And the heartbreak when I can’t fix it. Dozens of moms I’ve met through Children’s Law Center have shared similar experiences. Hearing their stories of when they first reached out to us – their frustration and heartbreak. And their relief when they learn there is a way forward. Moms like Ms. Harrington. Despite an early diagnosis of ADHD and his mother’s best efforts to get him the right educational and health supports, Kamari struggled in elementary school, especially in social interactions and expressing his emotions. By third grade, the school was calling Ms. Harrington all the time about Kamari disrupting his class. No matter what she tried, they weren’t responding to her concerns. She realized the plan they put in place back in kindergarten was no longer working. Ms. Harrington then brought Children’s Law Center onto Kamari’s team. Together, we got new evaluations, an updated IEP and specialized services like a dedicated aide to support Kamari in the classroom. Since his new plan started, Ms. Harrington hasn’t gotten any calls from the school asking her to pick up Kamari. And she knows who to call if she has trouble navigating the system as her son’s needs evolve. Learn more about Ms. Harrington's advocacy for Kamari here. Every day we meet mothers like Ms. Harrington who are doing all they can to meet their children’s changing needs. We take some of the burdens off their shoulders so they can focus on being there for their kids. I invite you to lift those burdens with us – by making a gift in honor of the remarkable moms who are always looking out for what is best for their kids. Your support helps families like Kamari and his mom – and the thousands more who we will continue to advocate for every day.
