As soon as Trump-appointed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy came to power, the speed and efficiency of the United States Postal Service took a huge hit. His next move? A 10-year plan to slash postal jobs, close sorting centers and move towards privatization.

Senator Gary Peters has recently demanded answers from DeJoy — he fears that the USPS’s changes would cause “delayed delivery of election mail.”
Senator Jacky Rosen and Senator Catherine Cortez Masto have also expressed their concerns: DeJoy’s proposal of diverting mail outside of the state and back again could impact voting. The senators wrote that “sending over one hundred thousand mail-in-ballots from Nevada to California before they are sent back to Northern Nevada is extremely concerning to election officials in the state."
Senator Bernie Sanders, backed by 20 other fellow senators, stated that “in many instances, outgoing mail processing will move hundreds of miles to a regional facility, outside reasonable commuting distance and, in some cases, to another state entirely.” The senators have “significant concerns” about the timely delivery of prescription medication, local mail, and mail-in ballots.
Postmaster Louis DeJoy hasn’t responded to their concerns.
DeJoy isn’t focused on what the people want — he’s determined to implement his dangerous privatization plan and jeopardize vote-by-mail.
