Recently, one of the Republican runoff candidates who I may face in the general election posted a video where he said, “That Jessica Holmes, she’s just a social justice warrior. She’s a problem. ”
Well, I have news for him and anyone who might misuse our tax dollars: yes, I am a problem.

There’s a lot at stake this November. As the state's independent auditor, the Office of the State Auditor:
- Audits more than $100 billion in state assets and liabilities each year.
- Audits programs that contribute tens of billions of dollars in federal money to the state.
- Conducts the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report to maintain the state’s AAA rating.
- Investigates cases of alleged fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars.
Ensuring integrity, accountability and transparency in the OSA is critical for ensuring that our hard-earned tax dollars are appropriately used for the betterment of all North Carolinians, and I will happily be a problem for anyone who gets in the way of that.
And perhaps just as importantly, let's send a message to those who believe there’s no place on the Council of State for someone who looks like me. Divisive rhetoric and dogwhistles have no place in our government or anywhere in our state.
North Carolina is a battleground and I’m ready to fight for good governance of my home state.
