Trump says abortion "not that big of an issue," GOP is "party of fertilization"
Well, the serially indicted cult leader got it half right. The GOP definitely is the "party of fertilization," in that they only care about impregnating women and forcing them to carry unwanted pregnancies to full term. Post pregnancy it's a whole different, dystopian ballgame. But Trump could not be more wrong in declaring abortion care to be of minor importance. Let's definitely all remember in November and punish Republicans for their heinous assault on bodily autonomy and reproductive rights.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump snaps in court after fed-up judge finally drops the hammer on him
Judge Merchan has finally had it with Trump's constant violations of his gag order and made it clear that he faces JAIL if he does it again. Trump reacted in a very predictable and incredibly whiny fashion. Shocking!

SCOTUS moves to give Trump a get-out-of-jail-free card
MoveOn: Nobody is above the law — especially not a serial offender like Donald Trump, whose crimes range from inciting insurrection to massive fraud to sexual assault. Trump's lawyers are arguing at the Supreme Court that he deserves full immunity for anything he did while he was president, and the conservative justices appear to be giving his preposterous arguments the benefit of the doubt. Will you add your name to demand that the Supreme Court hold Trump accountable and deny him full immunity?
Kristi Noem’s publisher nixed puppy-killing story two years ago, but South Dakota Republican literally could not let the dead dog lie
Kristi Noem’s previous publishing team actually saved her from the PR gravel pit two years ago, when they convinced her to leave the disturbing puppy killing story on the cutting room floor of her first book. Politico noted that Noem actually included the story in a draft of her first book, 2022’s Not My First Rodeo: Lessons From the Heartland, but it was ultimately cut after her team at Hachette’s Twelve imprint warned her that "puppy killer" was not going be a good look. Then as now, Noem thought the story of her shooting Cricket, a poorly behaved 14-month-old German wirehaired pointer, would be a resonant anecdote showing her toughness and refusal to bend to "political correctness." Unfortunately for Noem, her decision two years ago to leave the metaphorical shotgun in the closet didn't stop the vice presidential hopeful from resurrecting the poor bird dog only to shoot Cricket all over again in the pages of her upcoming memoir, No Going Back: The Truth on What's Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward — likely burying her chances to be Donald Trump’s running mate along with the poor pup.

UN condemns Israel after mass graves found in Gaza: Bodies "reportedly showing signs of torture and summary executions"
In a press release issued Monday, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights took Israel to task for the "systemic onslaught of violence against Palestinians" in the territory. Hamas, which controls Gaza, said on Monday it accepted the terms of a ceasefire agreement proposed by Egypt and Qatar. However, Israel said the proposal does not meet its demands. Currently, Israel is conducting strikes in Rafah, where more than one million Palestinians have sought refuge from the ongoing invasion. Nearly 90% of the population in Gaza has been displaced since war broke out following the brazen Hamas terror attacks seven months ago today. Most buildings in the besieged territory have been destroyed or damaged, including 70% of housing. "We are horrified at details emerging from mass graves recently unearthed in the Gaza Strip," the UN press release stated. "Over 390 bodies have been discovered at Nasser and Al Shifa hospitals, including of women and children, with many reportedly showing signs of torture and summary executions, and potential instances of people buried alive."

Newsmax host asks Kristi Noem if her book editor was "a liberal plant" who inserted unflattering stories
Ah, yes! The old sheep-in-wolf's-clothing, super-secret-liberal editor ruse! In the sun-baked, MAGA-addled brain of Newmax host Eric Bolling, Kristi Noem was simply the unwitting (and, we guess, utterly witless) victim of a left-wing smear campaign designed to end her political career with fake stories about staring down dictators and shooting misbehaving puppies. If we've seen it once we've seen it a thousand times. Intrepid stuff, Eric.
New York attorney general sues facilities promoting "abortion pill reversal"
The right-wing, Christian-based organization behind an international network of anti-abortion facilities is misleading people with dangerous claims that abortions can be "reversed," a lawsuit filed on Monday by New York Attorney General Letitia James alleges. Heartbeat International, which is affiliated with more than 2,000 facilities that aim to convince people to continue their pregnancies, has started promoting a controversial practice known as "abortion pill reversal," which claims that people can halt a medication abortion midway through. But the first randomized, controlled clinical study to attempt to study this “reversal” protocol’s effectiveness came to an abrupt stop in 2019, after three participants landed in the hospital hemorrhaging blood. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the preeminent membership group for OB-GYNS, has said that claims about abortion reversal are “not based on science and do not meet clinical standards" — sadly par for the course for the radical, right-wing anti-abortion movement.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul claims she "misspoke" when saying Black kids don't know the word "computer"
Gov. Kathy Hochul issued an apology Monday over a boneheaded, offensive comment she made about Black children in the Bronx being unfamiliar with the word "computer." Speaking at the Milken Institute Global Conference about her wish to make technology more widely available, Hochul said, "Right now we have young Black kids growing up in the Bronx who don't even know what the word ‘computer’ is." Her comment quickly drew condemnation from Bronx elected officials. "I misspoke and I regret it," Hochul said in a statement apologizing for the comment. "Of course Black children in the Bronx know what computers are — the problem is that they too often lack access to the technology needed to get on track to high-paying jobs in emerging industries like AI."
Medicare and Social Security go-broke dates are pushed back slightly
The go-broke dates for Medicare and Social Security have been pushed back as an improving economy has contributed to changed projected depletion dates, according to the annual Social Security and Medicare trustees report Monday. Still, officials warn that policy changes are needed lest the programs become unable to pay full benefits to retiring Americans. Medicare’s go-broke date for its hospital insurance trust fund was pushed back five years to 2036 in the latest report, thanks in part to higher payroll tax income and lower-than-projected expenses from last year. Once the fund’s reserves become depleted, Medicare would be able to cover only 89% of costs for patients’ hospital visits, hospice care and nursing home stays or home health care that follow hospital visits. Meanwhile, Social Security’s trust funds — which cover old age and disability recipients — will be unable to pay full benefits beginning in 2035, instead of last year’s estimate of 2034. Social Security would only be able to pay 83% of benefits. You know what might help with the whole social safety net solvency thing? Finally making the wealthy, superwealthy, and obscenely ultrawealthy pay anywhere close to their fair share in taxes.
