Dear ,

Information about artificial intelligence (AI) is flooding the news. We are hearing more about the rapid growth of this technology, from deepfake robocalls that attempt to scam donors to AI-generated images. There are even instances of bad actors using other people’s likeness for harm — and those instances have increased exponentially in just the past few weeks.

What are we to do to comprehend the good and bad uses of generative AI? For starters, we can listen to Poynter experts.

We’d like to offer you a special opportunity to learn from some of our experts and faculty members about artificial intelligence in journalism.

My colleagues Alex Mahadevan and Tony Elkins, two of Poynter’s AI experts, recently engaged in conversation with PolitiFact’s editor-in-chief, Katie Sanders, during a 20-minute conversation that we recorded for friends of Poynter. Watch as these AI experts talk about the latest technological developments, the issues that keep them up at night, and what has them feeling cautiously optimistic about this emerging technology.
