Dear John,

Today is the first day of North Carolinians Against Gun Violence’s 2024 Annual Campaign. Each spring, we ask our supporters to join us with a donation to support our efforts to fight gun violence. This year our work is as critical as ever as we prepare for November’s election which will decide the direction of gun violence protections in our state, fight to preserve our concealed carry weapons system, and advocate to fund on-the-ground community safety programs.

Can we count on you?

This March marked one year since the Pistol Permitting System was repealed in North Carolina–a lifesaving measure that closed the background check loophole on private handgun sales. Since then, we have seen a significant spike in gun sales. North Carolina saw an immediate and considerable increase in handgun sales after the repeal of this crucial protection—2,016 in the month before it was repealed to 52,532 in the month immediately following. That is 50,000 more guns in circulation in one month alone.

The General Assembly returned last month and we fear North Carolina’s concealed carry weapons permitting system is next. Your gift to the Annual Campaign will allow us to remain on the ground at the General Assembly, rally supporters across our state in key districts to contact their officials, and organize for impact in new communities.

We need you to join us in this continued fight against gun violence with a gift to NCGV’s 2024 Annual Campaign. Donate today to NCGV Action Fund [[link removed]] or NCGV Education Fund [[link removed]] to make a difference.

You will be hearing from us in the coming weeks on the importance of this year’s Annual Campaign and why YOUR gift matters in North Carolina's fight to prevent gun violence. We can’t do it without you!

Sincerely,
Becky Ceartas

P.S. Monthly gifts of $25 or more, or one-time gifts of $250 or more, are recognized as part of the Lisa Price Gun Violence Prevention Circle [[link removed]] in memory of our founder, Lisa Price, and her dedication to gun violence prevention.
