Friends,

I haven’t been campaigning because of everything going on, so it’s been a while since we last connected about the 2020 campaign. I just wanted to personally reach out because this week is Public Health Week. These are tough times, but I have been so inspired by all the people in our community coming together to help each other through this period in our lives. So, I want to say thank you

From my personal experience, I know that we can beat this by working together. When I was serving in Afghanistan, I had a very specific mission each day - working to discover improvised explosive devices that were planted to blow up American soldiers. After one of those bombs blew up beneath me, my life was changed dramatically in the matter of moments. I went from being an asset on the battlefield to a liability, and I had to come up with a plan for how to adjust to this new daily reality.

This pandemic has changed all of our day-to-day lives, forcing us to limit contact with others and devise a plan to stop the spread of coronavirus in our community. It hasn’t been easy, and for many, it has meant tremendous personal sacrifice. But even on my worst days of recovery in Walter Reed, I knew that I would come out of the adversity stronger because of the men and women that supported me through -- my fellow soldiers doing their own recovery and the doctors and nurses that were leading the way.

Just as I was then, I am once again so thankful for our frontline healthcare professionals who are risking their lives to serve our community. If that includes you, then from the bottom of my heart, thank you. For everybody else, let’s do our part: know the symptoms and risk factors, make smart personal decisions with our own health, and do everything we can to help those around us.

To that end, here are some of the symptoms of COVID-19 and some ways to prevent and stop the spread. I encourage you to share this graphic with anybody who might find it helpful!

You can follow along on social media on Facebook and Twitter. I know these emails may or may not be what you want to receive as you work through the many issues associated with this pandemic, so if you’d like to, you can adjust your email settings below:
Stay safe and God Bless,
