Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, John!
Our nation’s educators are the backbone of our society, and one week simply isn’t enough to thank them for all their work – and the sacrifices they make to ensure our students have the education they need to prepare them for the world.
Teachers are constantly undervalued, under-resourced, and overworked. The challenges from the pandemic and attacks from groups like Moms for Liberty have made their jobs even harder.
And the most extreme legislators in Congress continue working to undermine our teachers and education system in alarming ways. From implementing book bans that restrict the diversity of ideas and perspectives in our classrooms to diverting funds away from schools and toward their own political interests, their actions consistently put our children at risk.
As a mom and educator, I firmly believe every child deserves a school where they feel they belong and where they can grow, learn, and flourish. I have devoted my career to ensuring our students have access to a quality education that prepares them for the challenges of tomorrow.
At Stony Brook, I spearheaded numerous initiatives to enhance STEM education, including championing hands-on learning experiences, mentorship programs, and initiatives to increase diversity and inclusion in the sciences.
I co-founded a local nonprofit focused on strengthening our public schools through teaching critical thinking skills, civic engagement, and the strength in our diversity.
I’m ready to take on anti-teacher legislators in Congress, but I need your help to get there.
We need more leaders in Congress who will step up and fight for our educators and our children. Chip in $10, or whatever you can, to help support my campaign ahead of our June 25 primary >> [link removed]

Nancy
