Happy Teacher Appreciation week! As the daughter of two teachers, I’d be remiss not to reach out personally about the impact education has had on my life. 

My parents taught me a lot of things over the years: Treat others the way you want to be treated; Learn from your mistakes; Never give up.

However, there’s one lesson that has come to stand above the rest. A lesson that’s guided my entire time in public office. Education is key to a better, safer world.

I know, firsthand, the importance of educational opportunity, and I’m grateful for every teacher who was part of my educational journey. But these days, teachers and students don’t have the resources they need to succeed inside and outside the classroom.

If educational opportunity is essential to creating a better America, Congress needs to act like it. 

That’s why I’m running for Congress. I’ll be proud to put everything my parents and my teachers taught me into practice in Congress to deliver for our kids. But I can’t get there without you.
