Last month, we helped launch the Summer of Heat with the Spring Spark actions focussed on Citibank, shutting down their global headquarters in New York, while solidarity rallies shut down locations in DC and Houston, and other cities. Protests and Non violent actions also shut down climate-financiers like Wells Fargo in San Francisco, and there's a rally this week in Charlotte targeting Bank of America.

As we've told you before, fossil fuel projects need three things to get built: Money, permits, and insurance. We're focussed on these big banks because their money and investments are what's driving the buildout of fossil fuel infrastructure that's over-heating the planet. We've been calling on them to divest for years now, and it's time to turn it up a notch. But to do that we need a mass movement of people willing to take nonviolent direct action to end all financing for fossil fuels―and with it, stop climate chaos.

That's why we're joining the Summer of Heat on Wall Street, a sustained campaign of disruptive direct action, demanding that banks, investors and insurance companies stop bankrolling the fossil fuel industry. On the call, you'll hear from campaign leaders about their plans to organize multiple direct actions every week in New York targeting the banks behind the fossil fuel industry, all summer long. While the Summer of Heat is centered in New York, organizers are hoping that their actions help inspire a wave of protest across the country, calling out the financiers behind climate chaos and environmental racism.

In just two days last month, we completely disrupted Citibank's global operations. 53 people were arrested in New York city for peacefully protesting, and we've seen protest and free speech continue to be demonized and criminalized – as with the recent campus crackdowns.
