# [#] Trigger warning: Yesterday was the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women – a personal and deeply important issue that affects our communities and our families. This is a sensitive topic, and I am grateful for your attention and support but if you need to skip this email, I understand.

Indigenous women and girls face disproportionate violence — a direct result of historical colonization and ongoing systemic injustices. These issues are proven to be closely tied to environmental injustices, including land and resource extraction that threatens the very lands we've sworn to protect.

As a leader in the Makah tribal nation and a candidate for Washington's Public Lands Commissioner, I see this not only as a political issue but as a personal and environmental justice imperative to do better in the years ahead. If you share my concern, join me in sending a message that Washington must prioritize action on MMIW by adding your name to our petition:ADD YOUR NAME [[link removed]]

Our Indigenous lands, seen too often as “resources” to be bought and sold to the highest bidder, are sacred spaces where our communities have thrived since time immemorial. The exploitation of these lands often brings with it a disregard for the lives and safety of our people – this is especially true for indigenous women.

If elected as your Public Lands Commissioner, I am committed to implementing and advocating for policies that not only protect our environment but also enhance the safety and sovereignty of Indigenous Washingtonians. I will work to ensure these lands are managed with respect and care, aligning land stewardship with the protection of all who live there.

Today, I'm asking you to join me in this fight by signing our petition: [link removed] [[link removed]]

Together, we can turn our grief into action and demand that our voices are heard and respected.

Patrick
