MI Healthy Climate Conference taking place May 16-17 at the Lansing Center
WHAT: The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is hosting the 2024 MI Healthy Climate Conference May 16-17 in Lansing. More than 700 attendees ? including local, state, federal, and tribal governments; universities; nonprofits; community groups; and businesses ? are expected to attend. Building on the success of last year?s conference, EGLE is hosting this two-day conference to continue the mobilization of engaged stakeholders around implementing the goals in Governor Gretchen Whitmer?s MI Healthy Climate Plan.
The theme of this year?s conference is ?Accelerating Action.? Speakers will share success stories, challenges, funding opportunities, technical assistance, and other activity related to the six priority areas of the climate plan:
- Committing to environmental justice and a just transition.
- Cleaning the grid.
- Electrifying vehicles and increasing public transit.
- Repairing and decarbonizing homes and businesses.
- Driving clean innovation in industry.
- Protecting Michigan?s land and water.
The conference also will include technical assistance open houses related to federal funding opportunities. Attendees will hear from more than 70 thought leaders and experts on the urgency and opportunity of this moment.
Mainstage Conference Highlights:?
- ?An All of Government Approach to Implementing the MI Healthy Climate Plan,? a panel moderated by EGLE Director Phil Roos with the following speakers:
- Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) CEO Quentin Messer.
- Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Director Tim Boring.
- Michigan Public Service Commission Chair Dan Scripps.
- Michigan Department of Treasury State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks.
- ?Legislating Climate Action,? a panel moderated by State of Michigan Chief Strategist on Climate and Energy Kara Cook with State Sen. Sam Singh of East Lansing and State Rep. Abraham Aiyash?of Hamtramck.
- Conference reception with Lansing Mayor Andy Schor and State Sen. Sarah Anthony of Lansing.
- ?The Michigan Model for Just Transition,? a panel moderated by Jonathan Smith, chief deputy director at the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.

Registration fees: $235 for general admission; $130 for nonprofit or government attendees; or $35 for community members and students.
