In March, the Biden administration announced a new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau rule that will cap most credit card late fees at $8, down from the average of $32. It will save Americans an estimated $10 billion annually. [[link removed]]

But House Republicans are trying to block the cap from going into effect. The Republican Congressman leading the charge said: "The vast majority of Americans agree that [junk fees] are legitimate. They don't think they're junk."

That might be what lobbyists and special interests think, but I don’t believe it for a second.
