Dear John, We’ve been doing a lot of reflecting about the meaning and impact of our work at the Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California in recent weeks, amidst this unprecedented public health crisis. NPH’s mission and values have long demonstrated our commitment to working together to advance affordable homes as the foundation for thriving individuals, families, and neighborhoods. Our current COVID-19 environment calls on us all to affirm these commitments and unite together to uphold these values. Making sure people have a home where they can get and stay healthy is a critical step in this moment, when we all are uniting behind a strategy to flatten the curve and keep our neighbors safe. This health and economic crisis underscores the importance of ensuring all our neighbors have access to safe, stable homes — no matter their race or income — both for today and tomorrow. It shows that we must all work together to support our most vulnerable communities, that achieving economic equity is necessary for a strong and healthy economy, and that we must unite together in solidarity for racial justice. So, despite the uncertainty, concern, and worry we all hold for our communities and our families, we’re inviting you today to also find hope, light, and energy in this incredible movement and membership. We invite you to read our 2019 Annual Report for a dive into some of the most impactful work we accomplished together last year: - Securing groundbreaking legislative housing wins
- Strengthening our industry through coalition relationships, leadership development, and capacity building
- Growing the size, strength, and participation from our membership and coalitions at our conference, awards, and events, and
- Supporting and developing the Bay Area’s future housing leaders of color through our BAHIP internship program, our Racial Equity Action Planning, and our Emerging Leaders Peer Network

This current crisis has revealed more clearly how critical our work is to advance essential housing solutions for our communities and our future. NPH’s Board and staff are proud to unite with you — members, partners, donors, supporters, and allies — to get through this crisis together and to care for and strengthen our communities today and for the recovery ahead. In support and solidarity, Amie Fishman, NPH Executive Director | |
