In the key swing state of Wisconsin, Democratic Governor Tony Evers tried to delay Tuesday's primary in order to protect voters' health and safety. But Republicans who control the heavily gerrymandered legislature blocked every solution to allow people to vote safely, including sending each voter an absentee ballot or extending the deadline to vote by mail.
Republicans know that when voter turnout is high, Democrats win elections -- the president even admitted on Fox and Friends that if voting were easier, "You'd never have a Republican elected in this country again." That's why the Wisconsin GOP was thrilled to suppress the vote in Milwaukee (a city that's nearly 40% African-American in a state that's 87% white) by opening only 5 out of 180 polling places on Tuesday, according to The New York Times.
The GOP will do whatever they can to stop people from voting in November, including blocking attempts to allow every eligible American to vote by mail. Republicans know they can't win in a fair fight, so they're trying to keep us from voting. That's why we need to know:
