Sometimes you see something on the internet and shake your head at a perfect example of how far society has fallen.

Yesterday, I ran across a clip on X, formerly known as Twitter, of a televised professional pillow fight. That’s right, instead of two dudes in a ring actually fighting, these grown adult males were swinging pillows at each other. With an audience. On television.

On one hand, how far has society fallen?

On the other hand, how far has masculinity fallen?

It seems to me that professional pillow fighting might just be the sad, pathetic dying whimper of a society that undermines, mocks, and wages war against masculinity at every turn.

And, unfortunately, society’s hatred does not end with masculinity. They hate femininity. And marriage. The notion of childhood. God’s Design of the family. And, contrary to what they want you to think, they hate His gift of sex too – just consider the number of ways they distort it, twist it, minimize it, or manufacture a perversion of it.

All of this is an attack on God’s first gifts as outlined in Genesis 1:27-28: His image, distinct sex of male or female, the husband and wife partnership (detailed more in Chapter 2), the ability to multiply and have a family, and dominion over the earth. These first gifts are Satan’s obsession right now. It’s less “did God really say” and more “did God really make you this way.”

The attack on God’s Design – the value of His image, the distinctness of male and female, the unique gift of the family – is the great battle of the age. Unfortunately, too many Christians are on the sidelines, and, even those of us that are fighting in this battle focus too much on being against rather than for.

While we rightly stand against the transgender movement and radical gender ideology, how often are we really for God’s Design of human sexuality? When was the last time you heard a sermon celebrating that God made us male and female and all that means? When was the last time you celebrated that reality with your children or grandchildren?

A Christian community that fails to celebrate these first gifts leaves itself vulnerable to attack. And, as I recently said on stage at our recent Run2Win Conference, “make America great again will always be a flippant and unachievable political catchphrase until and unless we can make marriage and the family great again.”

God has given us these gifts to enjoy – a cause for celebration and gratitude, not duty. Let’s all commit to doing a better job of championing how He has made us.

Maybe then, we can rebuild a culture that no longer tolerates the wimpification of men as underscored by televised pillow fights…
