Just a couple of hours ago, Bernie Sanders announced that he is suspending his presidential campaign.

Like many of you, I'm sad about this news. Bernie personally inspired me to run for office; I wouldn't be here without him and the movement he helped create. Bernie's spent his entire career fighting for many of the things that I and our movement strongly believe in, like Medicare for All and a Green New Deal.

Now, the national focus will turn to progressive campaigns like ours. People will look to us to see the strength of the progressive movement after Bernie. So I'm asking you right now, John: will you rush $5 or whatever you can afford to our campaign?

While I'm saddened, at the same time I've never felt more motivated.

I'm motivated to continue standing up for essential workers to ensure that they get hazard pay, as well as all the equipment and resources they need to combat COVID-19.

I'm motivated to push for progressive policies like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and a New Deal for public education and housing.

And I'm motivated to fight harder than ever for working-class families of the United States, bringing about the change we've all been waiting too long for.

I hope you'll join me in this fight, John. Help me beat Eliot Engel and the Democratic establishment come June 23 — chip in $5 or whatever you can afford to our campaign.

Together, we can beat the establishment and send a strong message that our grassroots, people-led movement will fulfill the promise of an America that belongs to all.
