Statewide, Wyo. – The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) – Air Quality Division (AQD) is celebrating May 6 to May 10, 2024, as Air Quality Awareness Week.
DEQ celebrates Air Quality Awareness Week every year during the first week of May by spreading the word about all things air quality and what it means to Wyoming citizens.
“The Air Quality Division has a responsibility to the people of Wyoming, and we are constantly aware of the importance of keeping our State informed on air quality issues,” said Nancy Vehr, AQD Administrator. “Maintaining clean air is something that benefits everyone in the State because it ensures the high quality of life we’ve come to know and appreciate in Wyoming.”
This year’s Air Quality Awareness Week theme is “Know Your Air”. According to Mark Gagen, the Air Quality Monitoring Program Manager for the AQD, “The DEQ/AQD provides near real-time air quality readings from the DEQ’s 25 stations located throughout the state. The public can know their air at any time and find health information related to their area’s air quality by going to the DEQ’s resource http://www.WyVisNet.com/.”
The public is encouraged to “Know Your Air” not only during Air Quality Awareness Week but all through the year by utilizing DEQ’s WyVisNet website.
