BOB LINN ESG Darkness Parading as Light Our presentation Wednesday comes from a financial institution actively engaged in countering the economic warfare inherent in ESG (Environmental Social Governance) policy. It is an economic battle of good versus evil featuring moral inversions. I think we are winning this phase of a multi-pronged battle. Oklahoma’s own State Treasurer, Todd Russ, aware of the ways ESG policy endangers Oklahomans, is effectively preventing ESG encroachment into our state. The ESG movement has dissipated internationally. Participation is dropping rapidly. This is due, in part, to the actions of state leaders who have followed the same pathway of Todd Russ and because of its twisted morality. The backlash of the upside down morality of ESG. Last year, ESG’s moral confusion made headlines in June when S&P Global gave Tesla a lower environmental, social, and governance score than Philip Morris International. Philip Morris makes Marlboro cigarettes which, according to the Free Beacon, kill more than eight million people annually. Tesla was given a 37 and Philip Morris an 84! "ESG Craze is Fading" At the end of last year, The Wall Street Journal reported, under the headline above, that more than $8.2 billion had been pulled from ESG related funds. In January of this year the Wall Street Journal published an article which led with the statement that: Many companies no longer utter these three letters: E-S-G. Finally, in March of this year, the Wall Street Journal published an article titled: Why ESG Investing Might Never Recover. ESG has sought to handcuff the economy to a Christless ideology detached from the realities of life. ESG’s “S” means primarily advocating for the sexual revolution of Wilhelm Reich. It is a revolution we know today as the LGBTQ movement now destroying the lives of our youth and striking at the soul of the nations of the world. ESG is a movement of counterfeit ideologies posturing as an advocate for human welfare. In truth, ESG is injecting lethal doses of culture-destroying ideology into the public square. When the Apostle Paul stated to the church at Corinth that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light, he added that his human emissaries on the earth do so as well. (II Corinthians 11:14, 15) THE CONTRAST BETWEEN FAKE LIGHT AND TRUE LIGHT IS UNMISTAKABLE The Christian conversion of William Wilberforce had a dramatic impact on more than Wilberforce himself. It transformed England’s political policy and became one of the great moral triumphs of Western Civilization ending the practice of slave trade in England. The rear-view mirror of history demonstrates the blessings of the removal of the now unthinkable great darkness of slave trade because of the light of Christ in the life of one William Wilberforce. This is in sharp contrast to the false premises of ESG and its promotion of environmental dangers only imagined* and the nation-killing promotion of sexual perversion. Evil’s emulation of an angel of light is reflected in the contrast between Christ’s role in the history of true Christian social responsibility contrasted with the vacuous false version. ESG, the dark side of social values applied to finance and commerce, is a product of a general cultural decline which has resulted from the forgotten Christianity which provides the foundations of human liberty. In closing, I'd like to touch on the additional impact of secularism on life in America today. The Biblical roots of education, civic, and family life have been allowed to wither. The price we pay is political and civic confusion. All making front page news. I’d like to end with Dr. Everett Piper’s comments this weekend which highlight the ubiquitous nature of the moral turbulence now shaking our nation’s foundations. Dr. Everett Piper pointed out the transposition of good and evil in the moral double-speak which has made front page news the past few weeks in his Washington Times Article this past weekend. He pointed out that our youth are vilifying those defending themselves and making heroes out of those who are savagely destructive. And, as revealed in Breitbart over the weekend, this moral perversion is rooted in the highest levels of America’s government. Of the evil one’s knack for dressing as an angel of light, Dr. Piper spoke of the front-page news of the past few weeks. The trauma on our college campuses where good and evil are inverted/transposed. He said: Good has become evil, and evil is good. The villains are dead Jews who simply wanted to protect their country, and the heroes are those who invaded that country, raped their women, and beheaded their babies. But lest we think there is no way out of this mess, there is an answer. It is found in returning to and teaching Truth with a capital T. It’s found in those moral laws that have been tested by time, defended by reason, validated by experience, and endowed to us by Revelation. By Revelation, he refers not to the title of the Bible’s final chapter, but the entire biblical text. The divine Word of God which reveals that to which we would otherwise be unable to know. It is that revelation upon which mankind relies for a foundation and the ability to achieve the task assigned as God’s vice regent on the earth. Dr. Piper ends his article by noting this historic dependence in those arenas of academia which were among the greatest, during the time they acknowledged their Christian foundations. He says: Put simply, we will never stop the childishness we are watching on the evening news until we return to teaching the enduring ideas upon which the American academy was initially founded, ideas like these are found in Harvard‘s original mission statement: Let every student be plainly instructed, and earnestly pressed to consider well, the main end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life and therefore to lay Christ in the bottom, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and learning. There was a time when universities across the country had these words etched in stone above the entrance to their libraries: You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free Because these same universities have long since abandoned their mission, they now have to deal with a monster of their own making: a mob of immature students who don’t even know these words are Christ’s and that he is the only way to stop the chaos. Cursed is all learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ ~Princeton University, 1746 From the Tower of Babel to William Wilberforce, Christianity has won many victories. The people of God can expect this to continue as the providence of God designs. Superintendent Walters asked us to put together a broad group of pastors and leaders in Oklahoma to research the project and make a report. Father Hamilton boldly accepted the challenge and soon became our chairman. His dedication and work was amazing. We look forward to his leadership on the OCPAC Foundation Board of Directors.
