Dear Democrat,
The highly anticipated 25th Annual Massachusetts Democratic Party Dinner featuring the Roosevelt Awards is just around the corner, and we want you to be a part [[link removed]] of this extraordinary evening. Please mark your calendar for Thursday, June 13th, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel (138 St. James Avenue, Boston, MA).
This year, we are thrilled to pay tribute to two remarkable individuals and their unwavering dedication to our Democratic community with the President Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Awards. Join us as we honor The Honorable Former Speaker Bob DeLeo for his outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to advancing democratic principles and Democratic Activist Linda Whitlock for her tireless advocacy and dedication to championing democratic values and causes.
From our awardees;
"My family’s century-long history of political engagement has been the inspiration for my own participation in civic life and electoral politics. From an early age, I learned that every American has an obligation to try to make our communities better for ALL of us. As a proud Democrat, I am humbled to receive this year’s Roosevelt Award alongside former Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives Robert DeLeo, a transformative political leader. What a celebration we will have on June 13th!" -Linda Whitlock
"It is my honor to be the recipient of this award named for two of my political heroes,” said Robert A. DeLeo, who led the Massachusetts House of Representatives as Speaker from 2009 to 2020. “As Speaker I strove to follow the legacy of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt in ensuring the safety and civil rights of our residents, providing for those most in need of help, and constructing a secure economic future; by introducing and passing ground-breaking gun safety legislation, protections for transgender individual and reproductive rights, historic support for Early Education Care, and benefits of families with a member with autism, I believe the members of the House and I did our best to do that. I’m grateful to receive this award alongside an iconic leader like Linda Whitlock.” -Speaker DeLeo
We are also excited to announce the recipient of our Activist Award, established last year in honor of Chris Condon's legacy. This year, MassDems will be honoring Reproductive Equity Now President Becca Hart Holder and Reproductive Freedom Activists everywhere for their tireless work in the years post-Dobbs to ensure that all people have the right to choose what to do with their own body.
