And launch webinar!

John -- we are excited to announce the launch of Resource Generation Action and RG's Electoral Justice Giving Pledge!

RG Action is a c4 sibling organization to Resource Generation that will allow us to support grassroots partners' electoral strategies and the electoral strategies of national campaign partners Movement for Black Lives and Center for Popular Democracy.

Check out the new Resource Generation action website and take the Electoral Justice Giving Pledge here.

COVID-19 has laid bare the ways racial capitalism fails so many people every day, and exposes the lengths those in power will go to defend the interests of the ruling class at the direct expense of everyone else. The creation of this brutal political reality has been enabled by the people and institutions that make up the wealthiest parts of the U.S. economy, and those same institutions and people hold way too much power in determining the outcomes of our elections. Organizations led by poor and working-class people, Black people, and people of color are leading the fight for free and fair elections and for laws and policies that protect all people rather than the wealthy minority and corporations.

This fight is escalating every day, and we as young, wealthy people who believe in the equitable distribution of wealth, land, and power have an important role to play. We, the RG community and beyond, are uniquely positioned to leverage our resources, networks, time, and skills to support and amplify the vision of poor and working-class led progressive grassroots organizations contesting for power in the electoral arena. We need every tool and every resource we can bring to this fight. With RG Action, we aim to:

  • Proactively support our local and national partners, like the Electoral Justice Project and Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) Action, with funds, time, and other resources.
  • Organize to support specific policy measures that concretely benefit poor & working-class people, people of color, immigrants, and all of us. Organize to oppose specific policy measures that would harm these same communities.
  • Participate in grassroots movement efforts to elect candidates who are accountable to movements, and to defeat politicians who cause harm and put profit over people. RG Action will not independently be endorsing candidates, although chapters may endorse in support of movement partners (more info on rgaction.org

As a first step in joining in RG Action’s work, we invite you to join RG Action's launch webinar on Thursday April 23rd with 8-9:30pm ET/5-6:30pm PT with the Movement for Black Lives' Electoral Justice Project, "Electoral Justice in the Midst of Pandemic." We will hear from EJP staff Rukia Lumumba, Kayla Reed, Jessica Byrd, and Jam Gray. More info about EJP and these presenters here.

We are so ready to fight for a world where political power is in the hands of people and communities at the frontlines of movements for racial, economic, gender, and environmental justice. A world where poor and working class people across race have the collective power to decide how resources are distributed, and to shape and lead the governance of our communities at every level -- local, state, and nationally.

Learn more about and donate to RG Action’s national partners The Movement for Black Lives Electoral Justice Project and Center for Popular Democracy Action here. Let’s do this!

In solidarity,

The RG Action Team
