United States Puts Pressure on Qatar to Expel Hamas if They Reject Ceasefire Deal with Israel

Washington Post: The United States has told Qatar that it should expel Hamas if the group continues to reject a cease-fire with Israel, an agreement the Biden administration deems vital to easing the upheaval gripping the Middle East. Secretary of State Antony Blinken delivered the message to Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in April (Washington Post). Daily Wire: Qatar has advised Hamas’ leaders, including its top leader, Ismail Haniyeh, that they should start thinking about living somewhere else because of mounting U.S. pressure as the group has continually stalled and rejected negotiations. Israel has signaled that its military operation against the terrorist group inside Gaza will not stop until the group is thoroughly destroyed (Daily Wire).

President Biden to Give Illegal Immigrants Access to Obamacare
Townhall: The Biden Administration unveiled plans to give out Obamacare to tens of thousands of illegal immigrants who entered the United States as minors as part of the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Under the initiative, more than 100,000 illegal immigrants will be granted free healthcare under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. The so-called “Dreamers” will be able to enroll in the program’s health care system beginning next year. Previously, illegal aliens have been barred from taking advantage of Obamacare. However, a new rule published by the Biden Administration will change that, which the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) calls “technical modifications” to the definition of “lawfully present” that will determine who is eligible. Illegal aliens will be able to receive federal subsidies based on their level of income, which can qualify them for receiving free medical coverage. On November 1, eligible participants will be able to access tax breaks— just days before the presidential election (Townhall). White House: President Biden and Vice President Harris believe that health care should be a right, not a privilege. Today’s new rule builds on that belief (X).

Massachusetts to Give Illegal Immigrants Free Housing
Townhall: Despite residents fleeing Massachusetts, Democrat Gov. Maura Healey (D-MA) signed a bill welcoming hundreds more of illegal immigrants into her state. Healey signed the state budget this week that includes an additional $426 million to house illegal aliens in correspondence to the state’s “right to shelter” law that requires the government to put illegal immigrants and homeless people into homes. The Democrat governor’s move comes as Boston declared a state of emergency after it exhausted its resources last year due to the massive influx of illegal immigrants coming to the sanctuary state. According to a report, Massachusetts currently has more than one million illegal aliens residing in the state. It is expected to cost taxpayers over one billion dollars by 2025 to house them (Townhall).

College Student Being Radicalized by Anarchist Group, Taught How to Escalate Protests
New York Post: A troubling anarchist website is encouraging anti-Israel student protesters to escalate the violent demonstrations — by urging them to hijack buildings, arm themselves, and use the protests as a “movement against the police.” CrimethInc.com, which describes itself as a “rebel alliance,” analyzes the protests erupting across US campuses and gives students advice on how to up the ante. “Organizers should not concern themselves with de-escalation or ‘remaining peaceful,’” one analysis of the encampment protest at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign read (New York Post). Wall Street Journal: The goal of these pros is to spread their knowledge to recruit and train another generation. As one memo puts it: The University of Illinois “encampment taught us: if you build it, they will defend it, they will learn from it, they will grow from it.” New York police say nearly half of the protesters arrested at Columbia and City College campuses weren’t students. These radicals are also hiding behind students. The Columbia report praises “a new cross-pollination between campus life and protest activity,” saying that “to the extent to which the administration cannot distinguish between the student body as a whole and the protesters, everyone involved is safer.” Everyone, that is, except students who want to attend class to get their degree, Jewish students, administrators, police and anyone who doesn’t yield to the mob (Wall Street Journal).

GOP Looks at University Funding Packages
Washington Examiner: Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) agreed with some of his colleagues in the Senate that federal funding for universities allowing antisemitic protesters on its campuses is “a top-of-mind issue.” Hagerty appeared Saturday on Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street to react to reports that 2,000 college students were arrested on campuses in their pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Some were charged with misdemeanors such as trespassing, while others stand accused of assaulting police officers. Videos have come out from some of these protesters revealing antisemitic themes in their chants and signage (Washington Examiner). Elon Musk: Doesn’t make sense that American taxpayers are forced to fund anti-American activities (X). End Wokeness: Federal funding of universities, 2023: Columbia: $1.2 billion, Penn: $955.6 million, NYU: $805.5 million, Yale: $776.8 million, Cornell: $736.2 million, Harvard: $676.1 million, UT Austin: $645 million, Berkeley: $451.4 million, Princeton: $403 million, and GWU: $200.2 million (X).

Biden’s Move With Marijuana Could Result in Billions in Lost Tax Revenue
Wall Street Journal: Many U.S. cannabis businesses could become profitable for the first time if the Biden administration follows through on its plan to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug. That is because the change could lift a heavy income-tax burden: Section 280E of the federal tax code currently bars cannabis businesses from claiming deductions on many basic business expenses. That rule often results in an effective tax rate of 70% or more, wiping out most licensed marijuana retailers’ earnings. Licensed U.S. cannabis companies this year are expected to make $31.4 billion in sales and pay $2.3 billion more in federal taxes than they would under normal business tax rules (Wall Street Journal).

Minimum Household Income Required to Purchase a Home Keeps Rising
Realtor.com: The minimum income required to buy a home now hovers at $116,000 nationwide, but this threshold varies greatly based on where you live. On the high end is San Jose, CA, where homes are listed at a median of $1,467,000 and homebuyers need a salary of $361,000 to comfortably cover these massive mortgage payments. On the low end, homebuyers in Pittsburgh need to make just $67,000 to snag a property at a more modest median of $250,000. In April, mortgage rates started rising again, pushing up the cost of buying a home by 6.9% compared with last year. Overall, the income needed to afford a house rose by $5,900 compared with last year. “Notably, 34 of the 50 largest metro areas required a household income of more than $100,000 to afford the median-priced home at current interest rates,” says Realtor.com Chief Economist Danielle Hale. “And six even required a household income of more than $200,000.” The need for a six-figure salary to purchase a median-priced home in all but 16 metros adds a bitter note to a housing market already stacked against budget-minded buyers, with mortgage prices pushing above 7% as of late (Realtor.com). Census Bureau: Real median household income was $74,580 in 2022, a 2.3 percent decline from the 2021 estimate of $76,330 (Census Bureau).

Israelis Pressure Netanyahu to Invade Rafah Following Hamas’ Missile Strike From Region
Times of Israel: At least 10 Israelis were wounded in a Hamas-claimed rocket attack on an area near the Gaza Strip on Sunday, prompting the military to shutter a key border crossing. More than 10 rockets were fired from the Rafah area in southern Gaza in the attack, according to the Israel Defense Forces. The Hamas terror group said it had launched a barrage of short-range rockets at a gathering of Israeli troops on the border, near the southern community of Kerem Shalom (Times of Israel). Jerusalem Post: A number of Israeli politicians, including from within Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, issued on Sunday political threats in an attempt to pressure the prime minister to order an immediate invasion of the southern Gazan city of Rafah. The threats joined similar comments made during the past week, and indicate mounting public pressure amongst Israel’s right-wing to stop negotiating with Hamas to release the Israeli hostages and instead push forwards with an attack on the final significant Hamas stronghold in Gaza (Jerusalem Post).

Google Reverses Decision to Censor Donald Trump’s Campaign Ad
Daily Wire: Google reportedly removed an ad from former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign this week that targeted President Joe Biden on inflation and illegal immigration. The ad reportedly sought to reach black voters, with whom Biden is struggling recent polling, in rural Georgia. However, after facing significant backlash online, Google appears to have reversed its decision (Daily Wire). HotAir: Google just booted this Trump ad that is completely, 100%, verifiably true for unspecified “policy violations.” “Policy violations?” I can tell you exactly what the violation is: this ad is targeted at minority voters and it is probably very effective. Google can’t have that, can they? Right before our eyes, we keep getting examples of domestically-based election interference. Attempts to bankrupt Trump. Attempts to put Trump in jail. Constant propaganda from the MSM. Vicious slander of anybody who supports Trump. And, of course, censorship (HotAir). Reporter Megan Basham: Google has reportedly taken down this very effective Trump ad for an unspecified “policy violation.” What policy could this possibly violate Google (X)?

“Squad” Member Hold Fundraiser With Islamic Radical Who Cheered on Hamas for October 7 Attack
National Review: House “squad” member Jamaal Bowman (D., N.Y.) held a fundraiser with a Hamas-sympathizing Muslim leader who was disavowed by the White House after he celebrated the brutal October 7 attack on Israel. This past week, Nihad Awad, co-founder and national executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, co-hosted the event for Bowman at a private home in Fairfax, VA. Bowman blasted the “militarization of college campuses, extensive police presence, and arrest of hundreds of students” and accused of the administration of “dangerous escalation” (National Review). Reporter Matthew Kassel: Among the co-hosts of a fundraiser for Rep. Jamaal Bowman was Nihad Awad, the CAIR leader whose comments celebrating Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel were condemned by the White House (X).
