Hi, friend — one of my favorite Sunday traditions is spending time with my mom, playing dominoes at the kitchen table.
And frankly, she's the reason that I'm running for Senate in Florida now. My mom moved our family from Ecuador to pursue the American Dream, and in doing so, she inspired me to fight for a better life — not just for myself, but for those around me, too.
Thanks to her hard work and sacrifice, that dream came true — and I went on to become the first South American immigrant elected to Congress.
In recent years, I've also become her caretaker: a job I take just as much pride and joy in doing. I'm so grateful to be able to give her a good, stable retirement (and continuing our Sunday domino tradition is just the cherry on top!).
But friend, I recognize that it’s not this simple for everyone. It’s becoming more and more challenging for Americans to retire comfortably.
The reason why? Politicians like my extremist opponent, Rick Scott. They're dead-set on defunding essential programs like Medicare and Social Security — but Scott isn't content with just stopping there.
In fact, he's the architect of the plan to SUNSET Social Security and Medicare plans in the next five years.
Our seniors deserve to age with dignity — and unlike Rick Scott, I want to expand and protect the benefits that seniors like my mom have worked so hard their entire lives to earn.
That’s why I’m running for Senate, and why I'm counting on help from supporters like you to retire him this November — so friend, will you please chip in to help me flip Florida blue, defend our Senate majority, and protect Social Security and Medicare benefits from heartless Republicans like Rick Scott?
