There is NO excuse to let polluters off the hook. Help us fight back in court.

COVID-19 is NOT an Excuse to Stop Regulating Polluters

In the midst of a global crisis, the Trump administration is prioritizing polluters and further threatening our public health. Help us fight back.

Dear NRDC Activist,

How low can this administration go?

We have an answer: While the country is overwhelmed by a massive public health crisis, Trump's EPA has announced that it's rolling back critical pollution safeguards.

Polluting industries — fossil fuel and chemical companies, and more — can hide behind the COVID-19 pandemic (which could go on for months) and stop monitoring and reporting dangerous air and water pollution. They could even be exempt from penalties for violating pollution limits.

To make matters worse, the administration is also rolling back automobile emissions and fuel efficiency standards, allowing cars and trucks to pollute even more ... and crippling one of our most promising measures for fighting climate change.

NRDC will respond immediately — taking the EPA to court if that's what it takes to stop these polluter giveaways. So please help power our legal battles — rush an emergency gift to stop the administration from undoing critical environmental and public health protections during the COVID-19 crisis.

This pandemic has made it abundantly clear that scientific expertise and public health protections are essential for our wellbeing.

It's also made clear that the Trump administration is taking advantage of an unprecedented crisis to do favors for polluters. By throwing open the door to more pollution, Trump's EPA is creating new public health risks for people at a time where public health risks are already skyrocketing.

Chemical plants, oil and gas operations, power plants, steel mills, coal plants, and other polluters could stop monitoring and reporting on their pollution — and potentially even exceed crucial limits for pollution — without penalty or alerting the public.

It's dangerous. And it must be stopped. Please, make an urgent gift to power our critical legal work today.

NRDC is doing all that we can to keep communities across the country safe. We're fighting to ensure that nobody lacks access to water, gas, and electricity services during the COVID-19 crisis.

And we've seen progress: After public pressure from NRDC and local partners, the governor of Michigan ordered all households without water to be reconnected, and the governor of California ordered a moratorium on shutoffs and water service restorations at recently disconnected households. These actions are helping give families increased access to water.

During these difficult times, NRDC continues to fight back. Because we cannot — and we will not — allow this administration to stifle science and put our air, water, climate, and public health at risk. We need you standing with us. Make a special gift now and we'll put it straight to work.

With your support, we will keep battling until science and public health prevail. NRDC has filed 105 lawsuits against the Trump administration. With the law on our side, we've won 92 percent of the cases resolved so far.

But we can't hold the line on so many fronts at once without your support. Join us in this fight with a gift now.

On behalf of all of us here at NRDC, thank you for everything you do. I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during this trying time.

Sincerely,
Gina
