Mourning the Loss of Law Enforcement Heroes
Giulia and I continue to pray for the families of the four law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Charlotte this week, including several from the Tenth District.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family of Deputy US Marshal Thomas Weeks, a Mooresville resident who dedicated his life to keeping us safe.
We are also praying for the family of State Corrections Officer William “Alden” Elliott, who was brought home to Newton this week with a hero's procession. The 1995 graduate of Newton-Conover High School served his community and state with distinction.
The citizens of Catawba and Iredell Counties are steadfast supporters of our brave law enforcement officers and I know each community will rally around these families.
While our area continues to mourn those lost in this brazen attack on law enforcement, we take comfort knowing the wounded officers are recovering well. That includes Casey Hoover, who serves as a member of the Statesville Police Department.
This tragic incident is a reminder of the danger our law enforcement officers face every day. We thank these dedicated public servants for all they do to keep us safe.
