John , it's with a heavy heart Iā€™m reaching out to tell you that as of May 1, 2024, reproductive rights are effectively gone in Florida.
When the Florida Supreme Court upheld Ron DeSantis' already-unconstitutional 15-week ban last month, they gave the green light for his even worse six-week trigger ban to take effect.
Even when 1 in 3 people only find out they're pregnant after six weeks have already passed.
Even when there are almost no exceptions for rape and incest.
Even when 75% of Florida voters oppose such extreme measures.
We haven't even gone a full day under this law, but one day is too many. And I know I'm not the only one who thinks so: abortion is a winning issue, and we've seen it in every election, red state or blue, since Roe v. Wade was overturned.
So this is not the end of our fight for abortion rights. It's just the beginning.
We can save our pro-choice Senate majority and codify reproductive freedom nationwide, but it starts with kicking out extremists standing in the way, like Sen. Rick Scott. I'm fighting every day to defeat him, but I need your help to reach my emergency $100,000 goal and win. Will you split $15 between my campaign and Serve America before midnight tonight to help me flip Florida blue? [[link removed]]
Look, John: This ban has ripped away my rights, the rights of my two daughters, and the rights of millions of women who will be put in danger across our state.
And just so we're clear: It's all because of the Supreme Court that Donald Trump built, and the Senators who allowed him to appoint the anti-abortion extremists who went on to reverse the protections of Roe.
Senators like Rick Scott, who proudly says that, were he still governor of Florida, he would've signed that extreme six-week ban.
He's been living in a bubble of far-right extremists. He refuses to accept that the tides are turning in Florida, or that everyday families simply do not support his toxic, anti-choice agenda. That's why I'm running to retire him.
If I make it to the Senate, I'll do everything I can to pass legislation that reinstates abortion rights nationwide. But my opponent is a mega-millionaire who can and will spend practically anything to bankroll his attack ads and drown us out.
I need your grassroots support today because without it, I simply won't make it to the Senate. So please, if you're with me in the fight for our freedoms and against extremist, out-of-touch politicians desperate to control us, will you rush $15 ā€” split between my campaign and Serve America ā€” before midnight to help me make reproductive rights the law of the land once more? Together, we will win.
Thank you,
Debbie
