Celebrated Small Business Week

Small businesses are the backbone of our nation. As Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, and a car dealer for over 52 years, I know firsthand the struggles hard working Americans are facing each day. Small Businesses employ over 60 million Americans and make up nearly half of the private sector payroll. Unfortunately, since Biden took office, $1.3 trillion in regulations have been forced onto Main Street. Main Street America plays a crucial role in our economy. I am fighting each day to end Bidenflation, out-of-control interest rates, and crippling over-regulations to restore affordability for our nation’s job creators.

My committee hosted a showcase highlighting businesses from districts across the country. I was proud to have the owners of DSG Tec USA from TX-25 here in D.C. to participate.

Small Business Committee Hearing

I led a hearing focused on the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN)’s implementation of the Corporate Transparency Act. Congress passed the Corporate Transparency Act to detect illegal funds moving through the financial system. If you can better detect and prevent illicit funds from entering the financial system, it should reduce overall criminal behavior. However, FinCEN’s implementation of this law and the corresponding regulations have been overly broad, leading to unnecessary regulatory burdens on our nation’s job creators. Watch here.

Financial Services Subcommittee Hearing

I continuously hear from banks in my district that regulators are slow to review merger applications and that the review process lacks a clear set of expectations. Bankers do not want to devote time, money, and resources to pursue a merger when the approval process is just going to be dragged out and delayed by regulators. The role of federal regulators should be to improve the merger process, not make it more burdensome for the institutions applying. Watch my line of questioning here.
