Hey John — Ravi Bhalla here, and I’d like to tell you a little bit about why I’m running to represent NJ-08 in Congress.

My parents restarted their lives here in the United States of America because they believed in the ideals and freedoms that make up the foundation of this country.

They instilled that faith in our democratic institutions in my brother and me, and it’s a big part of why I’m running for Congress today.

I’m running against Robert Menendez Jr. in the Democratic primary because people deserve to live their lives with dignity, opportunity, and a government that works for them — not the other way around.

But here’s the thing, John: I can’t defeat the Menendez machine and win this race alone.

That’s why my first action as mayor of Hoboken was signing an executive order making it clear that our city is a safe, welcoming place for anyone who wants to make a life here.

Working folks deserve to know that their children will be inheriting a habitable, sustainable planet.

That’s why we’ve put green policies front and center, from rain gardens to expanding outdoor spaces and building resiliency parks to mitigate flooding.

I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done, together, to make Hoboken safer, cleaner, more sustainable, and more equitable during my time as Mayor.
