Vogtle Unit 4 Enters Commerical Operation
|
Earlier this week, Georgia Power announced that Plant Vogtle's Unit 4 entered commercial operation—marking a significant milestone in Georgia's clean energy future. With Unit 4 now at 100% capacity and fully operational, Plant Vogtle is officially the largest nuclear power station in the country—providing safe, reliable, emission-free energy to consumers and businesses across the Peach State and beyond.
To celebrate this historic achievement, I participated in a panel discussion in Augusta with Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) and Blake Moore (R-UT), as well as industry leaders to discuss Plant Vogtle and the benefits of nuclear energy. During the panel, I highlighted legislation I introduced that was included in a bipartisan nuclear energy package that advanced to improve the licensing review process for future nuclear projects in the United States.
As I’ve said many times before, an all-of-the-above strategy is critical to reclaiming American energy dominance, and nuclear—our nation’s largest source of clean, baseload energy—has a pivotal role to play. I congratulate Southern Company, Oglethorpe Power Company, MEAG Power, Dalton Utilities, and all partners involved in this tremendous success.
|
After our informative panel discussion, I visited Plant Vogtle to see Unit 4 officially up and running. Since being elected to Congress, I have visited Plant Vogtle on numerous occasions to witness various stages of progress throughout the Unit 3 and Unit 4 construction process, and seeing this project come to fruition is nothing short of remarkable.
This is proof that America can still do big things and we're leading by example in the state of Georgia!

Combatting the Scourge of Antisemitism on College Campuses
|
President Biden and morally bankrupt university leaders have allowed antisemitic, pro-terrorist mobs to overrun colleges and universities across the country. Enough is enough and it is time to restore law and order, academic integrity, and moral decency to America’s higher education institutions.
This week, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) launched a House-wide probe into campus antisemitism. This probe will not stop until Jewish students can feel safe on campus and the leadership of these universities are held accountable.
Additionally, the House passed H.R. 6090, the Antisemitism Awareness Act, with my support. Our message is clear: antisemitism has no place in America.

Commemorating the 250th Anniversary of Abilene Baptist Church
|
I recently had the privilege to join Abilene Baptist Church for their 250th Anniversary service where I presented an American flag my office had flown over the U.S. Capitol Building to mark the occasion. This anniversary is not just a marker of time, but a testament to the unwavering dedication and commitment of each member of the congregation.
This anniversary serves as a reminder that God has used this congregation in a powerful way and continues to do so. I express my deepest gratitude to those who have contributed to the years of success of Abilene Baptist Church.

Syensqo Groundbreaking Ceremony
|
I also participated in Syensqo's groundbreaking ceremony and celebration to honor its new site in Augusta. I am constantly impressed with the number of businesses, large and small, that are investing in the CSRA and the state of Georgia—a testament to our pro-growth, pro-business policies. This new facility is expected to create about 100 highly-skilled local manufacturing jobs for hardworking Georgians!

Presenting an American Flag to Jefferson County Sheriff Gary Hutchins
|
While in Jefferson County, I was also honored to present an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol Building to Sheriff Gary Hutchins. Sheriff Hutchins is a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and I thank him for his selfless service and commitment to keeping our communities safe. We must stand by our local law enforcement and back the blue!

Celebrating National Small Business Week
|
We recently wrapped up National Small Business Week, and I am proud to recognize America's small businesses and the critical role they play in our economy and local communities. As a small business owner, I will continue to fight for pro-growth policies that allow our small businesses to thrive and ensure Georgia remains the number one state to live, work, and raise a family.
