I wanted to send along this message from my friend Gina Ortiz Jones about her new organization for reproductive rights in Texas, Find Out PAC. Please take a moment to read and split a donation to support our efforts if you can. Thanks!

Friends,

You may know that I’ve launched a new organization to take back reproductive freedoms in Texas – but let’s back up for a minute, because how we have the opportunity to do that in the first place is worth talking about.

While United States Supreme Court justices are nominated to serve on the bench by the president, in Texas, we actually elect our state Supreme Court justices through statewide partisan elections.

We’re one of only eight states in the country to do it this way. And here’s the most important part: Since Texas justices are elected, they can be un-elected right off that bench.

And while the current Texas Supreme Court bench is home to extremists who are f*cking around with our rights – see: their December decision to deny a pregnant mother in Dallas an abortion because, unlike her doctor, they didn’t feel like she was “close enough” to losing her life or future fertility – the good news is that we actually have a LOT of power in the situation.

We’re not held hostage by a lifetime appointment, and we don’t have to hope and pray and cross our fingers that the next opening on the bench will be filled by a president or a governor who shares our values.

We can take matters into our own hands, and we can do it right now.

This November, three Texas Supreme Court justices whose decisions have made it more dangerous to be a woman in Texas – Jimmy Blacklock, John Devine, and Jane Bland – are up for re-election, and Find Out PAC is building a movement to vote them OUT.

If you’re ready to take back our power and show Jimmy, John, and Jane what happens when they f*ck around with women’s reproductive freedoms, please split a donation of ANY amount between Find Out PAC and Mikie Sherrill today. [[link removed]]

Way too many women live in states with extreme abortion bans and very little recourse – but in Texas, we have the chance to show just how wrong these justices are for our state.

We value our freedoms, and that includes our reproductive freedoms.

Thanks for stepping up to help.
