Today’s GOP is a party obsessed with imposing right-wing cultural views on the American people -- and you can count Eric’s opponent Joe McGraw among them.

McGraw was in Kewanee for a town hall last week and he:

* Pushed for looser protections on the first amendment because, “we are able to put someone away for life or execute them without motive, but in the media they have to prove motive.”

* Floated the Great Replacement Theory and claimed Democrats were behind it.

* Implied judges – and therefore lawmakers – from diverse backgrounds are expected to “behave a certain way” because of identity politics, rather than doing “the right thing.”

* Called Governor J.B. Pritzker a dictator.

Holy dog whistles, friend.

Joe McGraw is showing us what he really believes, and we should all take him word for it. If elected, he’s all too happy to stand on the front lines of the extreme right’s backward culture war.

Unlike McGraw, Eric keenly understands that challenges our district and region face won’t be solved by the MAGA agenda. That’s why he’s working across the aisle to bring home more affordable healthcare, safer neighborhoods, and good-paying, sustainable jobs.

At a time when Congress has been repeatedly brought to a standstill by extremists, we need more of that, and less far-right talk radio takes.

However, McGraw did say one thing that made a whole lot of sense:

“Tell your friends all hands on deck and that it’s the most important election of your lifetime.”
