In the midst of darkness and chaos, it can be difficult to see who’s in control. Turning on the TV to watch the news is often discouraging because of the violence and division we see, which only seem to be increasing. I’m reminded this week that no matter what happens in this world, God reigns. It is really that simple - He is on the throne and His plans are not altered by what we see on the news, what we fear, or what may come in the future. He is our King and His ways and plans are so much greater than we can even fathom. We rest in His sovereignty and praise Him for His faithfulness to us. I think of and take comfort in the lyrics of “This Is My Father’s World.” “This is my Father’s world;

oh, let me ne’er forget

that, though the wrong seems oft so strong,

God is the Ruler yet.

This is my Father’s world;

why should my heart be sad?

The Lord is King, let the heavens ring!

God reigns; let the earth be glad.”
