Friends,
The scenes on college campuses have been shocking – grotesque displays of antisemitism, appalling exchanges between protesters and counter-protesters, students and faculty thrown to the ground by police in inexcusable displays of brutality.
As protests spread across the nation, members of J Street U – the student organizing arm of J Street – have met the moment with empathetic, nuanced and compassionate leadership. Speaking out for the rights of Jewish students and non-violent protesters alike, returning focus to the core issues on the ground in Israel and Gaza, and pushing back against those seeking to exploit the moment for political gain.
At J Street, we firmly believe that all students – including Jewish students and protesters – have a right to safety, free speech and protection from violence, harassment, and intimidation.
This Tuesday at 12pm Eastern, join a special call to hear directly from J Street U student leaders across the country offering an unvarnished look into the dynamics on their campuses and how they’re meeting this incredibly challenging moment.

I’m honored to moderate the can’t-miss conversation this Tuesday, May 7 at noon Eastern / 9am Pacific with a panel of exceptional student leaders:
- Lauren Haines is a junior at the University of Michigan and serves as President of J Street U’s National Board. Her commentary on the current protests and police response has been featured in The Forward and The Washington Post.
- Jeremy Faust is a senior at Columbia University and serves on J Street U’s National Board. He is pursuing an additional degree in Jewish History at the Jewish Theological Seminary.
- Rachel Burnett is a senior and J Street U chapter president at UCLA. She interns at the Nexus Project, an initiative focused on parsing out the relationship between criticism of Israel and antisemitism.
- Meirav Solomon is a sophomore at Tufts University, where she leads her J Street U chapter. She is the daughter of two rabbis and an alum of the dialogue program Seeds of Peace.
J Street U is home to the next generation of American advocates standing for long-term peace, dignity, and self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians. I cannot wait for you to see just how incredible these young people are.
