How ‘Bout Them Apples? Schrier-Led Agreement Supports Apple Farmers, Boosts Ag Exports Representation


Thanks to work from U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell and U.S. Reps. Kim Schrier and Dan Newhouse, who reached an agreement with India to remove retaliatory tariffs on apples in place since 2018, Washington apple farmers were able to increase exports.

House passes bill to cap insulin prices

The House of Representatives voted Thursday to approve legislation that would limit cost-sharing for insulin under private health insurance and Medicare. The vote was 232-193, with 12 Republican members joining their Democratic colleagues to pass the measure.

The Affordable Insulin Now Act would cap insulin prices at either $35 a month or 25% of an insurance plan's negotiated price — whichever is lower.

Fighting to protect consumer and American tax payers from unjust and illegal price gouging, Rep. Kim Schrier, D-Wash., and Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., sponsored a bill that would make it illegal to sell gas at an excessive price during an energy emergency.

WA to receive $6M in federal funding to repair roads, improve fish passage, maintain trails

Washington will receive $6.3 million to repair roads, improve fish passage for Chinook and steelhead, and build and maintain trails in the Snoquera region between Snoqualmie Pass and Mount Rainier National Park.

“This program is so important because roads that are small and remote, but falling apart and impacting water systems, never get funded for repair or removal,” said Kim

According to the Federal Communications Commission, the Affordable Connectivity Program, which provides up to $30 a month for income-qualifying households and up to $75 a month for people on tribal reservations, will run out of funds this month unless Congress acts.
