Hi, I’m Mark Guethle, the President of the Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association (IDCCA), and Chair of the Kane County Democratic Party.

Across our state, Democrats are fighting to make real change happen at the local and county level. In my time at IDCCA, Illinois has become a leader in reproductive freedom, fiscal growth, and in uplifting and protecting union workers and working families. Illinois Democrats have fought for transformative progress – passing legislation to defend abortion access, protect our democracy, and make our communities safer.
Meanwhile, in GOP-controlled states, extremists are abusing their power to chip away at our most basic rights and freedoms through dangerous abortion bans, voter suppression bills, and anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.
The contrast is clear – Democrats are working to better the lives of working families, while Republicans are hell-bent on controlling them.
Republicans are sending us down a dangerous path that puts our democracy at risk. But right now, we have a chance to halt this downward trajectory – to repair the damage that right-wing extremists are doing to our democratic institutions and secure a more progressive future by building our Democratic power at the county and local level.
